Gunadala Lourdhumatha Shrine

The centenary celebrations of Gunadala Lourdhu Matha was inaugurated on 9th of September, 2023 with great reverence and devotion to Mother Mary.  His Lordship Most Rev. Joseph Raja Rao Thelagathoti, SMM, hoisted the flag at the Shrine Church at 9.30 am. He announced the start of the centenary celebrations and unveiled a plaque in memory of the centenary. Doves were released as a symbolic gesture. A Procession with the Statue of Gunadala Lourdhu Matha was then started from the Shrine Church through the Mysteries of the Rosary, Tower, and Boarding Chapel to the Stage at Bishop Grassi Grounds.  The concelebrated Holy Mass started at 11:00 am. The Mass which was attended by the priests, the religious, the nuns, and about 5000 faithful from the diocese of Vijayawada ended at 1.00 pm. After the mass, the poster of centenary celebrations was released and the chariot of Gunadala Matha was inaugurated. The Chariot will be sent to all the parishes of the diocese, during the year, in preparation for the centenary celebrations to be held during 8-11 of February, 2024.
